My world is taken up by real life at the moment, with DragonCon prep sprinkled around the outside.
By the way, in case the person who wants to know how to wash ‘g2b out of a wig’ comes back, you use shampoo or soap. And you do quite a few rinses. If it gets too hard to handle, do a conditioner rinse and then keep going. It’s just like real hair, only if you pull out a fiber it ain’t coming back (Ke$ha speaks the truth).
But, other then that…costume list! Yes, this is boring and for myself. Huzzah.
Myself:
Black Canary “Night on Town” fancy dress costume: done! Completely. I even made a mask for it in case I want to pop into the masquerade happening…I think Friday?

I know, look at me going wild and crazy and finishing shit and following through on my word. Next thing you know I’ll do those tutorials and how to’s I’m always promising.
Applejack, MLP; FiM: First off, I admit it, total brony here! And second off, ALMOST done. I have one ear done, the other is currently being painted (clay I used was purple and so the orange is having trouble covering it; lame) and I have to finish the tail (there was a minor saga with Arda Wigs but they definitely came through and I 100% recommend them to anyone who is thinking about ordering them–good wigs for a good cost and customer service is phenomenal). Going to attach it to my belt with some kind of strap contraption and then do a ‘wrap’ of red fabric at the top in addition to the tie at the bottom to hide my construction (it’s two pony clips stacked on top of each other, the second clip I’m going to fishtail braid a couple strands of hair over it then just glue it in place. Wigs, I do not treat them kindly).
Pictures for this are going to wait til after DCon. It’s not a furry costume, unless you count ears and a tail as ‘furry’, which I don’t. I count fur suits and those who yiff as furries. But, everyone has their own definition.
Cyclone: has been done for a while now! I found the perfect stockings for her by buying Wanda Waldo socks, they’re thigh high and thick stripes! Man, I nearly had a break down until I found those. The thin stripes look just drove me crazy, because she clearly has thick ones. I found some all white puffy sneakers at Payless for $20, and because they were having a promotional sale, I got flip flops for Bellossom for free! Not bad.
For Gunner:
Civil War Era French Pants (aka, steampunk): Done! Completely. They look pretty awesome. They need a drawstring up top, but Gunner knows how to braid cord and we have the yarn for it, he just needs more then a couple hours off from work here and there to get it done. Or he’ll do it on the plane ride over, whichever. They stay up fine without it, purely for decoration.
And yes, Civil War era is steampunk. Pretty cool how wide the time frame falls.
Two Face “Night On the Town”*: This is my downfall. I got the shirt almost done, the mask is being worked on and will be done in a couple days, and fingers crossed the pants don’t give me problems. I haven’t even bought the undershirts yet, nor the ties. I think the pants may be the most difficult part (while the mask is the most time consuming**) but it’s just hanging over my head.
I also need to start worrying about exact hair dying schedule and need to start teeth whitening as of three days ago. And need to buy a train ticket home. Whoops. Got food and febreeze though. Everything else will work itself out.
*Oh please, like I’m creative enough to come up with another name for it?
**The other mask (the store bought one) didn’t come CLOSE to covering his face, so I need to make one from scratch. Did a mold straight on his face and now am layering it up. It’ll be all plaster, from the looks of it. I’d do paper mache on top to give it a smooth texture, but I wanted the burned/messed up look, so not actually smoothing the plaster down as much as normal. As always, promises of a post about it later.
